As I get older I have discovered a few things.
The subject matter varies but the intent is to share a little of what I have learned with you
I Am Not A Salesman

I am not a salesman, I’m a consultant.  One day I walked into a Used Car sales office with a 3 ring binder in my hand and the husky guy behind the desk took one look at me and his face quickly turned sour.  “What are you trying to sell me?” he asked gruffly.  In this situation most business representatives with the latest widget or service would break into a cold sweat and start back pedaling looking for the door, but a smile came to my face.  “I am not a salesman, I’m a consultant.” I replied…
How To Use LinkedIn

During a Monday afternoon meeting I learned the benefits a co-worker was having from using Linked in. (Thanks Nita) I have had a LinkedIn account for over a year and have not done anything with it. The results after working with LinkedIn for 1 week blew my mind.  As I was learning, I kept track of what I found and these are the results. They are listed on “How to use LinkedIn” One Week Update
Why use LinkedIn?
LinkedIn is a great tool for anyone in business to reach out and make friends with other people from all over the World.
Paying For College

A parent’s job is to protect, feed, clothe, educate and prepare our children to be successful when they grow up and leave the nest.  In today’s world, a college education can make all the difference in their ability to get a job or career in a field they enjoy.  What I am about to share with you may be one of the best ways to help your child grow into a responsible adult and provide a financially secure beginning to life on their own. At times, it may go against the normal feeling to give and protect, but it works.  This approach offers a balance.  If you continue to do everything for your child, they won’t learn for themselves, may not appreciate what they are given and may struggle once on their own.  On the reverse side, if you do nothing for them, they may achieve success on their own yet may start life with a pile of debt…

Treasure Hunters

This is how Kip Wagner was bitten by the bug. The quest for precious gems, gold and silver, the treasure hunting bug. It was an obsession that eventually lead him and his partners to find the fleet of 1715 near the Sebastian Inlet, off the east coast of Florida. My grandfather, Captain Steadman A Parker, was the person that introduced Kip to the story of hidden treasure that would change his life and our history.
Customer Satisfaction

Customer satisfaction is the lifeblood of any company and leads to and creates customer loyalty. It is an attitude that cascades down from the owner and/or managing director to every employee. It will empower every employee to do what it takes to keep customers happy; providing each customer an experience that is above and beyond their expectations. It is important to say that if the owner doesn’t support his/hers employees to do what’s right, both morally and financially, then customer satisfaction, and hence loyalty, is difficult to achieve. Towards the end of this article, some policies and procedures are included that can help make this an easier task. This article is geared towards taking care of service customers but can be applied to sales as well.  People do business and make friends with other people they like. We used to use the phrase “kill them with kindness”.

Life Altering Knee Fix

This is the story of how I experienced a life altering event for the better. I have been very active my whole life, playing every sport available to me. These activities included playing softball for 25 years, with most of that as a catcher, kickboxing (before MMA) and skiing Black Diamond runs in Colorado. When my knees started getting weak and very painful about 3 years ago, I thought the time had finally come that I have worn this old body out. All my doctors could do was to prescribe a very nasty medicine that helped with the pain, but I had to have my blood tested every 3 months to make sure my guts weren’t melting. When you go from being very active to sedentary, the weight starts to pile on. I couldn’t go for walks with my wife for very long because of the pain. I had almost resolved myself to the inevitable that my quality of life was going down hill.  I said almost. Knowing that I had to do something or just give up, I turned to Yoga.
Inspiration To Give To Locks Of Love

Several years ago while out riding my motorcycle with a friend, he told me about a “Poker Run” for motorcycles that was going on at a local tavern. We stopped to see what was happening and found several hair stylists cutting off people’s long hair. It turns out that it was a benefit to raise funds and collect hair for a nonprofit organization called “Locks of Love.”  “Locks of Love” is a nonprofit organization that collects hair and makes hairpieces for children who have lost their own hair because of an illness…
